Jackie was almost acceptable, but I was finally allowed "Mandy" and "Bunty". In it were wholesome girls who loved nothing better than to care for their pets, bake biscuits and play hockey. If they did go out it was to a "discotheque" with the boy-next-door.
Or so my mother thought....... In reality, the artists depicted young women who either looked very plain (see above), or wanton sex kittens with pouting lips and thrusting breasts a la Brigitte Bardot! There was no question which one I wanted to grow up to look like!
So this is a little retro homage to those glorious 70's artists.
I l0ved Bunty !didn't that one have The Four Mary's in it? & Misty ...yeah I loved that one too and then.. oh then I found KERRANG!
ReplyDeleteThe Four Mary's are still going strong. My daughter is 19 now, but she still has to have the Bunty annual in her stocking every christmas!
ReplyDeletelucky you, I wasn't allowed to READ comics because I was a girl! sigh...it was the dark ages after all!!
ReplyDeleteHa ha. Yep, as well as Bunty, I had the Debbie Annual. The Debbie Annual had the Bunty artist (I'm sure) do a few of the stories. If it wasn't the Bunty artist then it was a bloody good replication.
ReplyDeleteLove this Jo. You've got me wanting me to do a set as well! So I WILL. I'll email you when they're done, aye?!
